MOSFET Solutions for AC-DC Power Supplies
MOSFETs manage energy through power factor correction, high-frequency isolation and low-loss rectification in efficient AC-DC power supplies.

How MOSFETs Work in an AC-DC Power Supply
An AC-DC supply converts line power into a stable DC output. MOSFETs switch energy at the PFC and primary stages, while synchronous MOSFETs can reduce output rectification loss.
Select devices separately for the PFC, primary switching and secondary rectification stages because they operate at different voltage, current and frequency conditions. Compare RDS(on) at the expected gate voltage and temperature with gate charge and output capacitance, then verify bus-transient margin, safe operating area and thermal limits in the datasheet.
AC Input
Mains power enters through protection and filtering before rectification.
PFC & DC Bus
The PFC switch shapes input current and builds a controlled DC bus.
Primary Switching
MOSFETs drive the transformer at high frequency for compact, isolated conversion.
Rectification & Output
Output-side devices convert and filter the energy into stable DC for the load.
MOSFET Options for AC-DC Power Stages

High-Voltage MOSFETs
For offline primary switching and auxiliary power stages where voltage margin and reliable operation matter.

SiC MOSFETs
For demanding efficiency, switching-speed and thermal targets in advanced conversion stages.
